Portabiles Healthcare Technologies receives 3 million euros in Series A financing round
Startup Portabiles Healthcare Technologies, specialist in high-precision gait analysis for movement disorders, successfully closes its Series-A financing round.
The digital health start-up Portabiles Healthcare Technologies (PHCT) has closed its Series-A financing round with a total of 3 million euros. PHCT develops telemedical solutions for the optimised care of Parkinson’s patients with “Mobile GaitLab”, which was certified as a medical device according to the MDR directive in 2021. PHCT received growth capital from business angels as well as from Startup Shield Bayern. Further investors such as EIT Health, Mayer & Partner Unternehmensberatung GmbH and the crowdfunding platform Aescuvest also participated. Some of the investors have already been accompanying the company for a long time and now have increased their investment amount.
“I am very pleased that long-time supporters continue to trust in us. And I am proud that we were able to convince new strong partners,” states managing director Ralph Steidl. “This shows that we are on the right track and that we can address our next challenges strengthened.”
Portabiles Healthcare Technologies will use the investment from this financing round to advance marked of Mobile GaitLab. The innovative system supports targeted medication adjustment for Parkinson’s patients and enables a higher quality of life. In addition to the intelligent technology, individual nurse support will complement the product in order to offer patients comprehensive care.
For this purpose, the Portabiles team will grow. “We are very close to our goal of revolutionising healthcare for Parkinson’s patients,” Steidl mentions. “I am convinced that we will soon be able to offer patients the chance of a more self-determined life.” The company also targets to expand internationally, several European countries are the focus of this medtech startup.
Portabiles HealthCare Technologies was founded in 2016 by a multidisciplinary team with partners from the University Hospital Erlangen (Department of Molecular Neurology) and the Machine Learning and Data Analytics Lab at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg. This ensured and continues to ensure broad expertise in the areas of medical gait analysis, artificial intelligence and “wearable technologies”.
